The Asturian Revolution of October 1934 marked a decisive chapter in the history of Oviedo. This guided tour begins at the Plaza de la Constitución, where the headquarters of the Revolutionary Committee was located, the center of the Asturian workers' insurgency. From there, we'll explore key points in the city that witnessed intense fighting, such as Oviedo Cathedral, which suffered the consequences of the gunfire. We'll continue to the University of Oviedo, whose buildings were also damaged during the clashes. The route will take us to the Church of San Pedro de los Arcos, the site of dramatic moments. Throughout the tour, we'll explore how the events of the 1934 Revolution were influenced by the European context of the time, characterized by the rise of fascism, and how Oviedo became a battleground in the fight for workers' rights.
